The San Luis Obispo County Regional Airport (SBP) is committed to keeping our passengers and staff members as healthy and safe as possible. As the coronavirus (COVID-19) outbreak continues to impact the travel industry, the airport is working around the clock to provide extra cleaning in the terminal’s high-touch areas, ensuring our staff has the appropriate tools and gear to clean safely, and to minimize the impact on the traveler whenever possible.
SBP is actively monitoring the situation and following the guidelines from the Centers for Disease Control (CDC), as well as maintaining close contact with the County of San Luis Obispo Public Health Department and other federal and state agencies. We will continue to update our operating procedures as additional recommendations become available.
In order for travelers to minimize the risk of spreading germs, the CDC recommends the following:
- Avoid close contact with people who are sick.
- Stay home when you are sick.
- Avoid touching your eyes, nose, and mouth with unwashed hands.
- Cover your cough or sneeze with a tissue, then throw the tissue in the trash.
- Wash your hands often with soap and water for at least 20 seconds. Use an alcohol-based hand sanitizer that contains at least 60% alcohol if soap and water are not available.
- Clean and disinfect frequently touched objects and surfaces.
As the world continues to respond to the outbreak, many airlines are providing itinerary changes free of charge. For information about specific travel plans, please check with your airline before arriving at the airport. Airport staff is not able to assist with your airline-related questions.
