COUNTY OF SAN LUIS OBISPO BOARD OF SUPERVISORS AUTHORIZES AIRPORT TERMINAL CONSTRUCTION PROJECT

On August 11, 2015, the board voted to approve the San Luis Obispo County Airport’s terminal improvement project and authorized the airport to move forward with construction. The new $35.4 million facility will allow the airport to handle more frequent flights and larger aircraft as well as improve the flow of passengers.

NEW AIRPORT TERMINAL PROJECT REACHES MIDWAY COMPLETION POINT

In September 2016 Airport Director Kevin Bumen announced to the Board of County Supervisors that work on the San Luis Obispo County Airport’s new terminal project was nearly half finished. The project began in October 2015 and is scheduled to be finished in late summer 2017. The current terminal is just 12,500 sq. ft. and was built to accommodate small, 28-seat aircraft.  The new facility will be 56,000 sq. ft. and will feature an outdoor courtyard, ceiling level windows and a total of four gates that will accommodate multiple aircraft that seat 75 passengers or more.

NATURAL FEATURES FOR A FINAL TOUCH

The new airport terminal design features a bright, open concept that brings in the beautiful scenery from the outside. Design elements such as natural wood material, high windows and ceilings, and a finished concrete floor work together to create a bright, inviting environment for passengers to enjoy.
